This week! This week! Wow! **babbles incoherently about talking trees and orc-slaying contests** (Let me jot down that info on my ipaq -- NERD! yakkers, ika nga ni abbie at data)

Another thing to watch out for (ABBIE-DUDE, i'm talking to you especially) is that awards show that OB and Sean Astin present an award to the little girl who comes out in I Am Sam. February 9, 9pm ata sa E! Naku, I have a funny feeling I'll be out at that time. Oh well.

Ok, here are some news techy hobbits might be interested in:
National Geographic Beyond The Movie - The Lord of the Rings will be released in two weeks!!! Ano ba yan, di pa ko nakakabili ng DVD player. Was planning to get one mid-year. Argghhhh!!!! Pagkakwartahan ba ang mga LOTR freaks? So many books, calendars, toys, posters, DVDs, postcard books, magnetic postcard books...!!!

And Data...EW met someone in New Zealand. Hee hee.

Hmm...medyo hindi ko ma-gets yung fashion sense ni OB. What's with those little neckties? Hehe. I'm sorry, pero wallpaper ko pa rin sya. Kebs. Kahit panyo pa ang necktie nya.

Super busy!

But had time to surf a bit last night. Found EW article on Premiere.com. Feeling ko nakita nyo na yan. Also, there's a report na may nakakita na ng TTT trailer. Report lang, he didn't have screen caps/clips. Pero he was gushing. Can't wait!

BTW, I'm doing a segment on Blogs/Online Journals for Dtour. I might do a screenshot of The Techy Hobbit, hehehe. It'll air on February 16, 6:30pm.

Galiwaw pwedeng manggulo lang?

Here's a link sent to me by my oz friend. Interesting LOTR review...

The running time for The Fellowship Of The Ring seems long, but it flies by - and is considerably shorter than attempting to repeat the whole of the book. Instead it has taken the book's jigsaw of revelation and interpretation and recast it on time's arrow. As a result, several thousand years of backstory are thrown before the audience in the opening minutes. Putting the history here works well: it suggests the power of the tale to come...

Found while crawling the web again -- sniffing around ala Gollum for my precious...

FOTR SCRIPT ONLINE
LOTR: FOTR script now online! Rachel Lee of The Seat of Kings has patiently typed the entire thing. There's a version also that includes screen caps. Wow, that's a whole lot of work. Go get! It's cool, I can actually hear the dialogue in my head when I read it. She has some blanks, though, and if you can give her a little help, she'd appreciate it. :D She said so in her reply when I emailed her stuff I remember from the movie.

E-POST
Grabe, even Sir Ian McKellen is getting messages FOR Orlando Bloom on his website. It's so funny. The thing is, Sir Ian was nice enough to respond to that particular email. (Hey, I swear it wasn't me who sent that message!). Check out his latest E-Post. Careful when reading the stuff, though. There are spoilers so watch out for spoiler alerts. But, you guys have read the books...

DESKTOP THEMES
Non-movie desktop themes, winamp skins, and other goodies at Cabed-en-aras. I especially like the Lord of the Rings winamp skin -- it's what I'm using now. And the Tolkien 3 desktop theme which was the very first desktop theme I downloaded when I finally got a pc. It's got sounds from the either the BBC radio plays or the animated LOTR film. It's pointer is Sting. The "My Computer" icon is Gandalf! The Recycle Bin is a Hobbit-hole. When you've got stuff in your recycle bin, there's a light inside the Hobbit-hole When you empty your bin, the light goes out. Cool, eh?

Yun na muna. I really am a desktop monster. (Hi to Sammy!) And Yas, pretty si Legolas forever. Mwahahahaha.

More Goodies
I don't know what's wrong with the links...I asked my friend to check them and they work naman. Anyway, I hope you get to see the pictures na. Dude, I emailed the photo to you -- kakaawa ka naman, hehe.

Here's another picture of Legolas, but this time as rendered by an artist. I don't know who, though, for I downloaded this a long time ago! I hope you won't have trouble downloading this.

The Istari
The Istari, or the Wizards, came from the Undying Lands to Middle-earth because the Valar saw that a lot of evil things were happening in Middle-earth. They are Maia spirits, sort of gods of Arda. They were very powerful. However, in Middle-earth, they were forbidden to use all their power. They were constrained to use the power that their human form had and they could only use powers that they can find in Middle-earth. So I suppose, kasama pa rin ang magic doon, since Elves use magic in Middle-earth.

Sauron is also a Maia gone bad! So, I guess tama lang na si Gandalf ang maging head ng Fellowship.

I've been wondering about the kind of Magic that these Wizards use. They do use magic, but very sparingly. Very different from the context in which magic is tackled in HP. In HP, everything can be done by magic -- up to providing food. But, that's the charm of HP. :-) It's very light!

The Wizards of LOTR don't use magic trivially: (Do not take me for a conjurer of cheap tricks! -- Gandalf, FOTR movie)

I guess it requires great concentration and strength. Like when he battled with the Balrog. The other wizard, Radagast the Brown doesn't appear much in LOTR except to meet Gandalf while he was on his way to Isengard to consult with Saruman. He's supposed to be close with nature and animals and he sends Gwaihir to Orthanc to bring news or get news from Gandalf and instead finds Gandalf imprisoned.

Gwaihir the Windlord, on the other hand, is the dakilang manliligtas in LOTR, hehe. Actually, kahit sa The Hobbit pa lang, diba? Feeling ko pag di na alam ni JRRT ang gagawin, sasabihin ni Christopher, "What about the eagle?" And swoosh, enter eagle! Ano ba 'to, I'm rambling. I'm eager to listen naman. You guys, your turn!
