Reaction to LOTR's 13 nominations at the Oscars:

’Lord of the Rings’ Needs a Shot of Caffeine Not 13 Oscar Nominations”
by JONAS SCHWARTZ

I hypothesize that in 10 years time, people will glance back and spurn the over-long, under-cooked Lord of the Rings as some now do the inflated Kevin Costner Oscar-winner Dances With Wolves. Repetitive action scenes and non-existent character development do not an award-winning film make.

++++++

Peter Jackson just put me to sleep. If Lord of the Rings deserves a director nomination, so should Stephen Sommers for The Mummy. They’re almost identical films.

Nye! Hehe...i'm sorry to you! Hehe. March 24 ata ang Oscars. Wanna stay home!

ian-i, i took a look (look! a Took!) at the DVD French site, and though my French is exteremely rusty, it squeaks, i forced myself to decipher it. We can ask Oly, but if 'm not mistaken (and i hope i am--ang haba ng intro no? GET TO THE POINT!) they were talking about a PIRATED version of the DVD. Mukha naman e. Kumakalat nga raw yung news all over the internet daw. YUng mga screen caps and scenes were from the DVD. Pero I don't think it's an official release.

13 Nominations! WOW! That's in league with the Titanic and Gone With the Wind. Galen naman talaga, eh. I think I want to do what Garlic and Mitchie used to do during Oscar season: stay home and watch all day. Fantastic yon no? Hey! Wanna make a party out of it? Hahahaha!

Now if i were an Istari, what color would I be? hmmm, well red's my favorite color so, i'd consider that. kaso, wasn't sauron represented in red as well? Burgundy kaya? Sosy no? MAgenta? Maybe a nice soothing lemon yellow. hmmm...

Hey, look at what I found, another LOTR group blog. I lot of the posts have to do with OB, hehe.

I found some screen caps/menu scans of The LOTR DVD. I'm not sure if they're authentic, looks like they might be fake, but here, take a look. Data, you understand french? Translate please! It's a french site.

Ok, Oscar nominees are out! I never really cared about the Oscars before. But, of course, LOTR changes everything. LOTR is nominated in thirteen categories (including a best supporting actor nomination for Sir Ian) !!!! Woo hoo!!! Go Middle-earthlings!!! Too bad our lead hobbit was not nominated.

Sana mapanalunan lahat (yeah right)! Ok, I'll be happy with 9.

9. 9 Oscars were given to the race of Middle-earthlings, who above all else desired...power? Nah, hehe. ONE FILM TO RULE THEM ALL!

Hey, I don't remember talking about the wizards and their color, Abbie! Or if Gandalf going from gray to white means something. Crypto? Data?

Mukha ngang pinay si Madeleine Sami. BTW, I surfed through the Salon articles and found one with an mp3 of JRRT reading a poem in Elvish. Huy, when the FOTR DVD is released, we have to watch it ha? 2nd half of the year ata ang release? Hopefully, I'll have a player na by then.

A hobbit returns.

Sheesh, i feel like such a loser. Feeling left out na ako. Ang dami ko nang na-miss dito, ah! And I have no idea what's been going on, despite the fact that Abi sits right next to me in the office and Yas's cubicle is a mere three tables down!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, Ian-i for the techy hobbit! I'll put it up on my computer! You're so thoughtful! Kamusta ka na? Eva did say that she visited you kanina and when you opened the gate, nun ka pa lang daw lumabas ng bahay?! Ang saya! :) Sana we see each other soon. Baka may suggestions ka, men.

more on madeleine -- there's a pic of her in this article too. she looks pinay (being fijian)

http://www.abc.net.au/rn/arts/atoday/stories/s419623.htm

Madeleine is a remarkable 20-year-old woman who has been wowing them at the Edinburgh festival. Last year she won a Festival First Award and was nominated for best actress in Edinburgh.

She's of Indian-Fijian and Irish descent, and her one-person play is called "No.2". Written by Tao Fraser, it takes us into the gathering of a Fijian family in suburban New Zealand, as the family members try to fulfil the clan matriarch's final request. And Madeleine plays all the parts.

next question pls.

I have a question:

How were the Istari assigned their colors? Sila ba pumili ng kulay nila? And when Gandalf went from Gray to White, was that symbolic of him being the leader? Diba Saruman mentioned in the book that he was no longer The White, but Of The Many Colors?

Hey, welcome back balakubak! to the seminar...istas? Nyar. Hope you had a productive time. Got some kwento from Evaluna kanina.

Anyway, I have a present for Data. Are you ready? I'm sure you have this na, pero I tweaked it for you so that it will fit nicely on your desktop, and with room on the left-hand portion for your icons. :D Here it is: I've uploaded two versions -- 800x600 and 1024x768.

Thanks yassie for the Legolas pic!

And Abbie, tama yan. Pagpatuloy mo lang yan, dude. :D Wala pa masyadong rumors/news about TTT. Just your usual cast photos -- pictures of the actors playing Eomer, Theoden, etc. Wormtongue too, and no, Data, he's not being played by a woman whose name starts with a J. Although, in my opinion, she'd do justice to the role. She'd be a natural.
