posted by ulan _ at 9:54 AM Have you guys seen the movie "Witches"? The one based on Roald Dahl's book? If you've seen that, you'll know that Witches look like regular people, but when they attend conventions or when they're in the privacy of their own homes, they take off their masks to reveal their true identities -- less than pleasant looking folk. My point is, our friend GRIMA, might look like your regular power-hungry human of the 21st century. But, who knows, our friend might just look like this under that mask. Hehehe. I'm baaaddddd!!!!
posted by ulan _ at 9:27 AM I bought a Yahoo! Internet Life magazine yesterday. It was an old issue (Dec 2001) but I had to buy it because the cover story was on LOTR. There's a picture of a Ring on the cover with the text: "Lord of the Rings: The True Story of the Greatest Net Obsession Ever." Data, aren't we so guilty of being part of that! Remember those edit nights spent in front of the admin PC? Hahaha, medyo lurker lang ata ako noon, mostly there to read what others were discussing. Should Legsie be blond or dark-haired? Pointy ears or not? I remember your nick! Faramaere! Ako, Undomiel ata. Syempre, continuing net obsession yan. Just look at us now. YIL had a poll for the best Tolkien sites on the net. Here are the winners. They put reviews there, too. I think we've visited most of them. I visit a number of them regularly, but there are others that are completely new to me. Enjoy!
posted by ulan _ at 10:16 PM According to Laurice, the One Ring costs P77. Pretty cheap, eh? Hehe, commercialism is making it easy for us to rule 'em all, eh? Abbie: news about Orlando Bloom here. He has two movies coming up this year, aside from TTT of course. Yung sinabi ko before na Ned Kelly, isa pang title nya Our Sunshine.
posted by crypto gnome at 1:28 PM Spotted: LOTR trading card game AND LOTR figurines/miniatures (for strategy/combat games). the LOTR card game is around 750 php for one deck they are available dun sa gaming wizards (nga ba yon?). yung nagbebenta ng hobby crafts sa may galleria 4th floor and also sa glorietta near M1. (kuya data may remember the name of the shop) how much was the One Ring bought for?
posted by Data Tolentino at 9:41 PM Ian-i, great article on TTT. i have to confess my journey back to middle-earth, via your book, has been postponed. so much to do! but i guess i will be able to take that trip again very soon. na-guilty daw ako nung nabasa ko yung post mo about disappearing. AAACCKKKK! my plans for Oscar day include...not wanting to go to the office. actually, nakikita ko na, e: yung mga tao nakanganga at anka-stare lang sa tv sa second floor at sa TPT area. kunyari lang nasa office sila to work, but they actually aren't. sana we can make a party of it, no? let's all meet up at someone's house and cheer ourselves hoarse! Yahooooo! it was great to see you kanina! ayusin natin ang gimmick natin next week. tara! :) ingat. *dATa*
posted by ulan _ at 1:44 PM GANDALF SETTLES STAFF ISSUE Here we go, straight from Ian McKellen's website: Q: Unless I completely missed it (possibly!) how does Gandalf get his staff back after jumping off Orthanc onto the Eagle? & dont you think he could have said something along the lines of 'thanks friend' to Gwaihir the eagle. TTT News! Here's a nice article from Entertainment Weekly which talks about TTT stuff. So, what can you guys say about Scouring of The Shire not being included in ROTK? I sort of can understand why, because it's a little anti-climactic. I guess they'll end with Aragorn's crowning? Or wedding? And with Frodo saying "I'm ready to go home" or something. Sayang lang kasi sa Scouring papakita kung gaano na kalayo yung narating nung mga Hobbits. Di na sila passive especially Pippin and Merry who were now squires of Kings.
